Now use WhatsApp on multiple devices, here’s how it is done

Last year, WhatsApp introduced the ability for users to message easily across all their devices, while maintaining the same level of privacy and security. The company has now enhanced the accessibility for its users across the globe to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple smartphones.

Being one of the ‘highly requested’ features, users can now link their WhatsApp account with up to four additional devices at the same time when it is linked with WhatsApp on web browsers, tablets and desktops.

WhatsApp also says that linked phones connect independently with the app and further ensure that personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted. In case the primary device is inactive for quite some time, then it automatically logs the user out of all companion devices.

Now, WhatsApp users can switch between phones without signing out and continue chatting from where they left off. In fact, WhatsApp Business users can respond to customers directly from their phones under the same WhatsApp Business account.

Do note that WhatsApp on multiple phones feature is currently limited to Android devices.

“This update has started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks,” said WhatsApp in a blog post.

Here’s how to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices:

1.

Install WhatsApp Messenger on another smartphone/tablet/PC/laptop.

2.

Now, select the option to “link a device” on the registration window.

3.

Open WhatsApp on your primary phone.

4.

Open Settings and look for the “link a device” option.

5.

That’s it. You will now be using the same WhatsApp account on two different devices.

“If you attempt to frequently switch your WhatsApp account between different devices, at a certain point, you may be blocked from re-verifying your account. Please don’t repeatedly switch between different devices and numbers,” reads the WhatsApp FAQ page.

Conclusion
A WhatsApp account can only be verified with one registered phone number. Users with dual SIM phones must choose one number to verify with WhatsApp.
