Sydney Roosters vs Melbourne Storm results, round 7, updates, latest news; Zac Lomax contract saga ‘put to bed’, says Shane Flanagan

Dragons coach Shane Flanagan is content that the worst of the “external noise” around Zac Lomax’s early departure from the Dragons is over.

Asked if the drawn-out contract saga was now all wrapped up, Flanagan was satisfied that the club could now move on.

“It hasn’t really interrupted us, bar the external noise (but) I’d like to think that it’s put to bed now,” Flanagan said on Thursday

With the deal now out in the open, Flanagan reaffirmed that Lomax is fully committed to the club for the remainder of the season, while also hinting that other players could be on the move at season’s end.

“To Zac’s credit, look at his form — it’s been outstanding, so it hasn’t affected him,” he said.

“When he’s been at training and within the playing group, he’s been fantastic.

“There’s a lot of players that aren’t going to be at the club they’re at at the moment next year. He’s one of them, so we’ll just move on.”

After being shifted to the wing, Lomax will return to his preferred position at centre for the Dragons’ clash with the Warriors on Friday night because of an injury Jack Bird.
