Jessica Batten revealed that she eloped with her now-husband Benjamin McGrath in Santa Barbara this past August during an interview with Brides on Friday.

The 38-year-old reality television personality and her husband, 36, held an intimate wedding ceremony that took place at the Santa Barbara courthouse, with only two other couples in attendance.

The media figure previously received attention for leaving her former partner Mark Cuevas at the altar during the production of Love Is Blind’s first season.

Batten and McGrath spoke to the outlet and expressed that they decided that  it would be a better decision to elope from a logistical standpoint.

‘Considering the timing we are looking for in terms of family planning, we came to the conclusion that we would elope in 2022 and make big plans for a celebration down the road,’ they said.

The happy couple then expressed that their wedding ceremony went off without a hitch.

‘We had everything completely wrapped up and the wedding planners were so dialed in that we were solely focused on our special day. We felt very present and relaxed, truly able to enjoy each moment,’ they stated.

Batten and McGrath also revealed that they spent the night before the wedding apart to build up their anticipation for their ceremony.

They stated: ‘It gave us both butterflies finally being able to see each other after what seemed like an eternity and major buildup to the moment!’

The couple stated that they wrote their vows during the evening, stating: ‘It gave us each time alone to clear our heads and really be introspective about the vows we wanted to exchange and the sentiments we wanted to share.’

Batten and McGrath then recalled that they sped off from the ceremony in a vintage Porsche while a bagpiper accompanied their friends.

‘It was a really special way to take in those first moments as husband and wife,’ they said.

Although the pair’s loved ones were not present at the event, they kept in touch with their respective relatives during the ceremony, stating: ‘We felt the support of our families very much on that day.’

Batten and McGrath went on to express that they celebrated with the latter’s children following the event and were planning on including them in their formal ceremony, which is set to take place in August of 2024.

‘We had a magical wedding picnic with them and they will both be a huge part of our extended celebration,’ they said.

The former of the pair was previously involved with Cuevas, whom she dated throughout the first season of Love Is Blind.

Batten received much attention after she left her former fiancé at the altar at the end of the run of episodes.

The pair apologized to each other during the Love Is Blind reunion special, and Cuevas tied the knot with his now-wife, Aubrey Rainey, with whom he shares two sons, earlier this month.
