RCMP searching for armed teen in Moncton area

RCMP issued an emergency alert Friday afternoon saying officers are looking for an armed 15-year-old boy in the Moncton area.

In a social media post, RCMP said Parker Melanson is in possession of a handgun and has “dangerous intent.” The post says officers are searching the Moncton and Shediac areas.

Police said the teen may be travelling in a grey Dodge Caravan with New Brunswick licence plate KEA 208. RCMP said anyone who sees the vehicle should call 911 immediately.

Police said he was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt.

In a social media post just after 3:30 p.m., RCMP asked people to avoid the Starkey Road area in Long Creek. That’s an area south of the Trans-Canada Highway about midway between Moncton and Fredericton.

It’s the third time the RCMP have issued an emergency alert in New Brunswick since the start of September.
