The 2024 general election result: the next UK government

The FT’s Inside Politics newsletter is joining forces with the Political Fix podcast for a snap FT Live event on the UK general election result, answering FT subscribers’ questions the day after voters head to the polls.

Political Fix host Lucy Fisher will be joined by Inside Politics’ author Stephen Bush, political editor George Parker and columnists Robert Shrimsley and Miranda Green for a discussion and Q&A. We’ll analyse the results, including whether Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour party has swept a majority that suggests a decade in power, whether Rishi Sunak and his Conservatives have been humbled, and whether Nigel Farage and Reform UK have managed to cause a major electoral upset. Plus we’ll look ahead to the formation of the new government, the performance of smaller parties, and how different parts of the United Kingdom voted.

Whether you are interested in the next administration’s first 100 days in office or the fallout for defeated leaders, we’re here to share our intelligence and insights.
