Labour hits back at Sunak’s tax claims

Shadow paymaster general Jonathan Ashworth has rebuffed Rishi Sunak’s claims that the Labour party will increase taxes by £2,000 per household.

Speaking on Sky News, Ashworth said last night’s debate exposed “just how desperate” Rishi Sunak had become.

He also criticised the treatment of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who was hit by a milkshake while campaigning in Clacton-on-Sea.

“It is utterly unacceptable that he was attacked when he was out campaigning,” he said. “The wider atmosphere for politicians is becoming ever more toxic.”
