The musician still has nightmares about a girl being sexually assaulted that night, which was another terrifying incident. A van slammed into the audience while Fatboy Slim was performing at Woodstock in 1999, an incident he called “terrifying.”
During his performance, Cook began to play one of his songs. He had just finished a few tracks when he noticed a large object moving into the hangar. At first, he thought the van was just a silly addition to the show, like the art cars at Burning Man.
It took very little time as that van stolen by a group of individuals rammed into the crowd. Cook acknowledges that he was devastated by request to stop the music so that they could move the van out of the hangar; nevertheless, he denied the request thinking it was customary to be criticized during concerts, and it was Woodstock.
Afterward, the crowd did not take it well and began throwing bottles, cups, and other trash at him, another common theme throughout the rest of the festival.
A.J. Srybnik, the stage manager, arrived at the man after that and found a person brandishing a “rusty old” machete, along with a boy pulling up his pants and an unconscious teenage girl who had her clothes pulled off.
He shouted, “I was in shock. It literally took my life away.” The victim of a sexual assault had just been seen by him. The girl was then transported in an ambulance to the hospital.
The actions of Fatboy Slim The musician was instructed to leave the performance after going through such a dire situation, and he did so. He has never forgotten the spine-chilling incident that occurred that evening.
