An elderly Californian couple have been evicted from the home they had living in for two decades after their son transferred the ownership behind their backs.
Ismael and Angelita Ramirez claim they had been regularly paying $700 a month toward the home in Fresno but in April 2023, the woman who bought the home served them with an eviction notice because she wanted to sell the house, according to Fox 26.
The Ramirez’s bought the home in 2003 with the help of their son and another person because they were unable to speak English. However, their names were never put on the deed and their son signed the title as the sole owner.
Ismael told Fox26: ‘He told us … it wasn’t necessary. And well, since we don’t know English, that’s where they lied to us.’
The home is estimated to be worth about $260,000. It’s unclear how much the Ramirez’s son sold it for.

The couple also said that they never thought their son would do this to them.
‘We thought, why did our boy do that us if he knew the house was ours?,’ Ismael said.
The eviction notice stated the new owner was kicking them out and selling the property.
The couple said they have been unable to get any legal assistance and feel powerless because as soon as lawyers hear the property was in their son’s name, they refuse to take the case.
Ismael and Angelita Ramirez’s story has now gone viral on social media and a GoFundMe page has been set up to support them by their daughter.
The page has raised $30,170 as of now. They have set the goal at $45,000.
