Mass shooting in Baltimore: Reports of dozens injured and multiple dead

A mass shooting occurred in Baltimore, Maryland, in the early hours of Sunday morning, with reports of dozens of people wounded and multiple dead.

The Baltimore Police Department confirmed a large team of officers and medical personnel had responded to gunfire in the 800 block of Gretna Court in the Brooklyn Homes area of South Baltimore. 

The number of victims was not immediately provided. 

Witnesses said hundreds of people had gathered overnight for an event called ‘Brooklyn Day’, according to FOX45 News. 

Bystanders told the station they heard 20 to 30 shots fired. ‘They just kept going off,’ they said.

Investigators could be seen combing the area for evidence and there were multiple police cars stationed outside a nearby hospital.

A press conference with additional details was planned for later in the morning at the intersection of 6th Street and Audrey Avenue, police said.
