A Ohio man has been arrested for allegedly putting a police officer in a chokehold so tight he almost lost consciousness during a skirmish at Orlando International Airport.
Edward Hariston, 41, is accused of becoming aggressive and physical with staff at the Spirit Ticket Counter. A number of customers were threatening staff and he grabbed the computer keyboard and began hitting buttons on Tuesday.
He is now facing one count of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and disorderly conduct.
Hariston allegedly tackled one of the members of staff to the ground, and put them in a chokehold until he nearly lost consciousness.
A clip on social media, believed to be the same incident, showed a man being tackled to the ground by multiple police officers while furious passengers watch from the sidelines.
According to an arrest affidavit seen by Fox 35, an officer said he grabbed Hariston’s arm and in response Hariston grabbed his back.

A scuffle then broke out as the officer pushed Hariston to ‘create distance’ and Hariston then grabbed the officer’s hands, pushing him backward.
As a result, they both fell to the ground and Hariston put the officer into a chokehold.
The cop started losing consciousness, according to the affidavit.
The officer said: ‘I began to get dizzy and immediately spotty as my airflow was restricted and I was beginning to lose consciousness.’
According to the report, the officer said Hariston told him he ‘let me live’ and that he ‘could’ve killed me.’
Hariston was arrested and taken to the hospital for further evaluation. He is being held without bond.

‘Never flying with Spirit again.’
The video showed at least three officers tackling and holding a man wearing white trainers and grey sweatpants to the ground.
One woman was shouting and jumping in distress with her head in her hands in the background.
There was also another woman wearing pink behind the Spirit desk, who seemed to be in a struggle with two more police officers.
She was allegedly standing on the baggage scales shouting at staff.
The woman who witnessed the ordeal wrote on TikTok: ‘His wife swung too. You can see her in the pink in the back detained as she should.’
According to Fox 35, the situation in the clip is the same one Hariston was involved in.
Spirit Airlines have been contacted for comment.
