Applecross death plunge: Worker falls from a crane on Kintail Road, Perth

A worker plunged to his death while climbing a crane tower at a construction site in Perth‘s south. 

The 62-year-old contractor fell from height just before 7am local time on Friday at the site of the Grandton Applecross retirement complex. 

St John Ambulance paramedics attempted CPR but he was unable to be revived.  Some reports claimed the man suffered a medical episode.

In a statement, Dale Alcock, the managing director of construction company ABN Group, said: ‘This is an incredibly sad day. Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathy go out to his family.

‘We are offering them our fullest support at this very difficult time.’ 

The company is offering counselling to its employees and contractors at the site.

Work has been suspended on the site.
