Michael Clarke’s girlfriend Jade Yarbrough felt like she’d won the lottery’ when they started dating

Jade Yarbrough’s fairytale romance with Michael Clarke has turned into a nightmare, after footage surfaced of the interior decorator slapping her boyfriend and accusing him of cheating while on holiday in Noosa earlier this month. 

Insiders say 30-year-old Yarbrough felt like she’d ‘won the lottery’ when she captured the heart of the former Australian cricket captain in July, but sadly her luck seems to have run out. 

A source told Woman’s Day she aspired to have the same lifestyle as her older sister Jasmine, who is married to Today host Karl Stefanovic.

‘She felt like she was about to have the romance and lifestyle that her sister Jasmine has with Karl,’ the insider said. 

Once a pair of no-name sisters from Queensland, the Jade and Jasmine have found fame in recent years thanks to their high-profile relationships, perhaps proving the old saying: ‘It’s not what you know, but who you know.’  

The girls were born into a tight-knit, well-to-do family and grew up living in Ascot, one of Brisbane’s wealthiest suburbs.

Their father Bob is a successful businessman while their mother Cheryl works as a private school teacher.

The matriarch of the family is Jasmine’s late grandmother Isabel Hollingworth, who was related to Peter Hollingworth, who was Governor-General between 2001 and 2003 and was also the Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane 

The sisters were privately educated before going on to work in different creative fields – Jade became an interior designer, while Jasmine pursued work as a fashion model and shoe designer. 

Rumours began swirling that Clarke and Jade were dating in July 2022 when they were spotted checking in at Sydney Airport for a business class flight.

The couple went Instagram official a few weeks later when Yarbrough shared a photo of Clarke wrapping his arms around her shoulder as they explored the streets of Italy during a European vacation.

Romance quickly blossomed, and they were spotted enjoying a weekend away in Noosa in November with celebrity accountant Anthony Bell, Pip Edwards’ former friend Dina Broadhurst and her partner Max Shepherd.

The couple also enjoyed plenty of double dates with Jasmine and her husband Karl.

It comes after extraordinary footage emerged last Wednesday of a heated exchange between Clarke and his girlfriend Jade Yarbrough while they were on holiday in Noosa. 

In the video, which was filmed by an onlooker on January 10 and later sold to The Daily Telegraph for a reported $10,000, Yarbrough accused Clarke of cheating on her with his ex, fashion designer Pip Edwards, on December 17. 

Others in the group, including Today host Stefanovic, his wife Jasmine – Yarbrough’s sister – and celebrity accountant Anthony Bell, tried to defuse the fracas.

Yarbrough and Clarke, who was limping in the footage after injuring his hamstring, have since been slapped with ‘public nuisance’ fines.

A remorseful Clarke has since taken full responsibility for what happened.

‘I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable,’ he said.

‘I am shattered that because of my actions I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.’

Edwards also issued a statement on the night the footage was released.

‘This is not my circus. Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.
