Dua Lipa has been granted Albanian citizenship for her role in spreading Albanians’ fame internationally through her music.
The singer, 26, was born in London to Kosovar-Albanian parents who fled conflict and political instability in the Balkans.
She took to her Instagram to mark the achievement, writing: ‘Thank you President Bajram Begaj and Mayor @erionveliaj for this honour ~ got my Albanian citizenship!!’

She was granted citizenship ahead of Albania’s 110th anniversary of independence from the Ottoman Empire.
President Bajram Begaj said he considered it an honor to do so because Dua has made Albanians famous throughout the world.

The popstar co-founded the Sunny Hill Foundation in 2016 to raise funds with annual concerts held in her native Kosovo to help people experiencing financial difficulties.
Dua said: ‘It is an indescribable great joy with such acceptance, love and everything.’
She will wrap up her Future Nostalgia tour in Tirana’s main Skanderbeg Square on Monday to commemorate Independence Day.
