has rolled out new vernacular features in Outlook Lite. For those unaware, Microsoft Outlook Lite is an email and SMS app designed specifically for Indian users. Outlook Lite brings all the important features of Microsoft Outlook in a smaller-sized app with fast performance for lightweight devices on any network.
Outlook Lite prioritises inclusivity and responsiveness to the diverse linguistic preferences of Indian users. It incorporates features like voice typing, transliteration, and the ability to read emails in regional languages, facilitating the seamless composition and reading of emails in users’ preferred languages. Whether users wish to verbally compose an email in Hindi, type in Tamil and have it automatically transliterated to English, or read an email in Gujarati, Outlook Lite offers a user-friendly experience. Presently supporting five Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Gujarati, it is poised to expand to include more languages.
Outlook Lite also supports SMS messaging, simplifying how users consume transactional and promotional information, by providing a unified and smart inbox that organises messages by categories, such as transactions, promotions and personal.
The company has also revealed that Outlook Lite will also soon support language translation for SMS, so users can read messages in their preferred language, or switch between languages with a single tap.
