The RAM war in the Android world started when OnePlus launched the world’s first phone with 8GB RAM back in a day when Android wasn’t even capable of utilising it fully. Even premium flagship Android phones come with maximum 12GB or 16GB of RAM. In fact, the maximum RAM we’ve seen recently in a OnePlus smartphone — the Ace Pro 2 — that has whooping 24GB RAM. And, no we aren’t talking about virtual RAM.
This much RAM already outperforms mid-range laptops where the RAM range is around 8GB or 16GB max. Soon we could see Android phones reaching more premium high-performance laptops in terms of RAM capacity.
Digital Art Station has reported a phone maker has started testing a new phone with 32GB RAM. 24GB RAM was already a bit too much for the entire Android ecosystem and rumours surfacing about a phone with 32GB RAM will make this a little too overboard. Also, we are not sure whether Android supports that much RAM or not.
Since this is a rumour and no substantial report is available at the moment, we advise you to take this as a pinch of salt instead of getting excited. We will have to wait and watch for more information to surface about this mysterious 32GB RAM smartphone.
It’s not clear which company is testing the 32GB RAM phone and if it actually materialises in future, this could become a huge plus for the phone.
Meanwhile, even premium phones these days max out at 16GB RAM — the ROG Phone 7 — and from a mainstream smartphone brand, this number is either 12GB or 24GB. It will be an experience to see what an Android phone with 32GB RAM can do over the lower RAM phones.
