Meta-owned instant messaging service WhatsApp keeps on updating the platform to improve user experience. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company is working on a new interface for Android. WhatsApp has rolled out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program. The new beta update hints at a redesigned interface which will add a white top bar and a green app name. The latest interface is currently under development and isn’t available to the beta testers. WhatsApp may introduce this interface with a future update of the app.
However, it’s important to note that similar changes are also under development on WhatsApp for iPhones. The report notes that WhatsApp is planning to bring both apps in line with similar interfaces and features. The Android app is also set to align with the Material Design 3 guidelines.
How this interface may look
The report includes a screenshot that shows how this new WhatsApp interface will look once it’s rolled out. As per the report, the company is planning to redesign the top app bar by making it white. The status bar in WhatsApp’s Android app is also likely to become white. Apart from this, the company is also planning to change the font for its app name which is expected to be displayed in green colour.

Other expected features
WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to filter their conversations by sorting their chats. This filter will help users categorise chats in a list that will include unread messages, personal conversations and business chats.
This feature will offer users more control while searching through their conversations. The report also mentions that WhatsApp is adding some more noticeable improvements to this interface. The buttons to toggle these filters now feature much more rounded edges compared to the previous ones.
