OnePlus has dropped hints about its first-ever foldable smartphone, OnePlus Open. The upcoming smartphone will take on other foldable devices like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and others. Previous rumours suggested that the OnePlus foldable will arrive by August. Now, the company has reportedly pushed back the launch of the OnePlus Open. A Twitter user named Max Jambor has shared a tweet to report the delay.
Why OnePlus may delay the launch of Open
As per the tweet, the company is not satisfied with the performance of the display on the OnePlus Open provided by the Chinese supplier BOE. This supply-chain issue is reportedly the cause of OnePlus to delay the launch of its first-ever foldable phone. The tweet also claimed that the company is now testing the OnePlus Open with display panels from Samsung. The display supplied by Samsung has reportedly managed to meet the company’s expectations.
OnePlus Open: Expected design and specs
OnePlus Open’s design has already been teased by the company and the renders of the same have also leaked on the internet. The new display supplier doesn’t mean that the company will change the overall design of the phone. OnePlus Open is rumoured to replicate the design of the Oppo Find N2 smartphone which was launched in 2022. The smartphone is likely to be available in two colour options — black and green.
