Samsung Galaxy SmartTag surfaced on FCC listing, likely to launch soon

Samsung Galaxy SmartTag is due for an update and it looks like we could see one sooner than expected as the first Galaxy SmartTag was launched back in 2021. Details about the next-generation Galaxy SmartTag has already started making a noise. The tag has already received the Bluetooth certification and now it has been spotted on the FCC listing by Slashleaks.

Galaxy SmartTag likely to launch soon
Accoriding to the report, the upcoming SmartTag has received the go ahead from FCC which suggests that it could launch soon. Reports claim that the launch can happen in a matter of few weeks.

Galaxy SmartTag to get a complete redesign
The FCC listing of the Galaxy SmartTag includes the image of the upcoming tag. According to the image, the Galaxy SmartTag is expected to get a complete redesign.

The upcoming SmartTag is likely to be named SmartTag 2 and the model number is EI-T5600. Based on the image, the tag is set to get an overall cylindrical design with a circular ring at the top and Galaxy SmartTag printed towards the bottom.

Compared to the outgoing model, the square design is replaced by the oval shap and a bigger earring hole looks very different from before. The SmartTag is expected to support Bluetooth LC and Ultra wide band (UWB) as the connectivity options. The original model missed out this feature which it later corrected with UWB+.

The new SmartTag is less square and more oval-shaped than its predecessor, and it features a much bigger hole for keyrings – supposedly so you can more easily attach it directly to one. The new tracker has both Bluetooth LE on board as well as UWB connectivity. The original SmartTag lacked UWB, but the SmartTag+ rectified that. This time around, it looks like there will be only one model.
