The handheld PC gaming market is an emerging segment and more companies are also entering the segment. Last month, Asus launched its first handheld PC gaming device, ROG Ally to compete with other devices like Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. Now another brand is reportedly planning to enter the foray. According to a report by Windows Central, Lenovo is working on a handheld gaming PC named ‘Legion Go’. This device will run Windows 11 and will be compatible with PC gaming.
As per the report, the device will feature AMD’s new Phoenix processors. The US-based chipmaker describes its latest chip as ultra-thin, focused on gaming, AI, and graphics for ultrabooks. The report didn’t mention when the company is planning to bring this device to market.
Lenovo Legion Go: Expected specs and more
Lenovo’s rumoured handheld PC gaming device is expected to sport an 8-inch display. In comparison, the Asus ROG Ally comes with a 7-inch display. The Legion Go is also likely to come with a UI scaling option. PC and console games are often designed for monitors, TVs and other bigger screens. The scaling feature will make the UI elements easier to see. To take on its rivals, the device also needs to be lightweight and balanced.

The software experience is also an important aspect that Lenovo needs to focus on. Moreover, Microsoft is also gearing up to offer better support to OEMs exploring the handheld gaming device category, the report adds. Apart from Lenovo, Dell’s Alienware also teased a prototype handheld named UFO a few years ago.
In March, Lenovo shut down its gaming phones division that used to make Legion-branded smartphones. The phones were primarily restricted to the Chinese market and the company didn’t share any specific reason for exiting the market.
