The gloves are off. Some may say that they never were on. But they are as Mark Zuckerberg has hinted that his so-called fight with Elon Musk is unlikely to happen. According to a report by Reuters, Zuckerberg told employees at the company’s town hall “not sure if it’s going to come together.” The ever-prolific on X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk hasn’t made a comment so far on whether the fight is happening or not.
How it all kicked off?
On a rather innocuous tweet, Musk ended up challenging Zuckerberg in a physical fight. Zuckerberg took the ‘bait’ and responded with just three words on his Instagram Story on, “Send Me Location.”
Musk tweeted, “If this is for real, I will do it” to a screenshot of Zuckerberg’s story. He later tweeted, “Vegas Octagon,” which seems to be the location. “I have this great move that I call ‘The Walrus’, where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing,” Musk also tweeted.
Since then social media went in overdrive speculating whether it will happen. A report said that UFC president Dana White confirmed that Musk and Zuckerberg are ‘dead serious’ about the prospect of squaring up against each other. “…both guys are absolutely dead serious about this..they both said, ‘Yeah, we’ll do it.’ They both want to do it.”
People were suggesting locations. According to an online report, the Minister of Culture of the government of Italy connected with Zuckerberg asking him to fight against Musk at The Colosseum in Rome – widely regarded as the most fabled and legendary fight theatre in the world. Musk also seemed excited about the prospect. He said in a tweet, “Some chance fight happens in Colosseum.” In a separate tweet, he shared a small clip, Life of Brian Colosseum fight, and wrote, “Need to work on my endurance.” Musk recently did an impromptu training session with MIT research scientist and podcaster Lex Fridman. Clearly, it was all talk.
