Google has been making changes to YouTube Music to make it more user friendly and focused on what’s important to users. To achieve that, the company has started rolling out a new update with minor redesign to YouTube Music app mini player.
9to5Google has reported that the YouTube Music app has received a small update in regards to how users interact with it to change the skip tracks and cast songs to their Chromecast-enabled devices.
What has changed and how it will affect users
According to the report, the mini player in the YouTube Music app now shows a permanent Cast button. With that addition, the Next track button has been removed. Now, the player only has the Cast button followed by the Play/Pause button. Also, the top right corner, where the Cast button originally used to be has been removed and that makes the entire top right corner of the app appear much cleaner.
Another notable change is how users change tracks within the app now that the Next track button is gone, YouTube has added a new gesture that allows users to swipe left or right to move to next or preview tracks.
With these new changes, it is clear that Google is making it easier for users to cast music to Chromecast-enabled devices. On the other hand, the next track button has been removed in favour of gestures and that brings convenience to users of using the left and right swipe to change tracks. But, if you are regular to the YouTube Music app, then it may take a while to adapt to the new changes or unless you reprogram your muscle memory for these new changes.
Rollout details
Report says that Google has started rolling out the updated YouTube Music app widely and it will soon become available to all users across the world. Do note that the changes started appearing to some people almost a month ago. Now, it’s rolling out widely.
