David Prutton’s Sky Bet Championship predictions | Football News

Who is David Prutton tipping for victory in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend? Find out here…

West Brom vs Burnley, Friday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

Too many draws are holding back West Brom right now. It really is as simple as that. If you can’t pick up wins in this league you aren’t going to kick on towards the top six.

Burnley are starting to do that now. They’ve made a lot of signings and things are looking like they are starting to gel under Vincent Kompany. But this is still a tough trip and I think it could be another draw for the Baggies.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Friday 2nd September 7:30pm

Kick off 8:00pm

Blackburn vs Bristol City, Saturday 3pm

Ben Brereton Diaz scored 22 goals last season in the Championship for Blackburn Rovers

That was a big win for Blackburn in midweek to arrest the mini slump they had suffered. They have also managed to hold on to Ben Brereton Diaz for the time being which is a massive boost for them.

Bristol City have been ticking along nicely in the last couple of weeks and sit on the cusp of the play-off places. They are unbeaten in five, but the home side will be in buoyant mood and they could just get edged here.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds)

Norwich vs Coventry, Saturday 3pm

Norwich’s results are looking pretty imperious. They are not scoring a huge amount, but they are finding ways to win games. It is four wins on the bounce now.

Coventry just haven’t got going yet this season. It feels like all the issues with their home ground have halted their momentum. It is hard to see anything but a home win here.

Prutton predicts: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds)

Reading vs Stoke, Sunday 12pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

It was a jolt back to reality for Reading in midweek. But their good start had been a real bonus, and Paul Ince knows what the expectations are for his side this season.

Alex Neil didn’t get the win he would have wanted in his first game in charge, but nicking a late point like they did can sometimes feel just as good. If they take that feeling into Sunday, they could take all three points.

Prutton predicts: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds)

Sunday 4th September 11:30am

Kick off 12:00pm

Hull vs Sheffield United, Sunday 3pm

It was a pretty comprehensive defeat for Hull at QPR on Tuesday night, as they were blown away in the first half. That and the West Brom defeat will serve to maybe check some expectation for what they can achieve this season.

Sheffield United are really starting to emerge now, as they demolished Reading in midweek to head into the weekend top of the table. Their games at the start of the season were difficult, and they are showing their quality now. They should have the class here for the win.

Prutton predicts: 1-2 (Sky Bet odds)

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland, Monday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

It was a frustrating result for Middlesbrough in midweek, taking the lead at Watford before losing it with virtually the last kick of the game. They just can’t quite get going yet.

Sunderland got off to the perfect start under Tony Mowbray, and have made a few new signings as they continue their quest to consolidate in the Championship. There could be goals here, but I can’t split them. Score draw.

Prutton predicts: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds)
