Port Adelaide is making a bold play to lure 2004 premiership player Stuart Dew back to the club in a coaching capacity.
Dew was sacked as Gold Coast Suns coach in the middle of the 2023 season.
He joined reigning premiers Brisbane in a part-time capacity this season.

Now, the Power could be on the hunt to bring the coach home.
“There might be a little bit of interest from Port Adelaide in securing former premiership player Stuart Dew as an assistant,” 9News Adelaide’s Braden Ingram said on Tuesday.

Dew could fill the hole left by assistant Luke Kelly.
He also has strong links to Sydney, who are also reportedly keen on bringing Dew into their inner sanctum.
Meantime, the Power missed out on securing the services of GWS defender Harry Perryman, who will head to his childhood club, Collingwood, instead.
Perryman will likely sign a six year deal, reportedly worth over $850,000 per season.

Having also failed to secure the signature of Giants defender Isaac Cumming, who will head to the Crows, the Power will be less inclined to help defender Dan Houston’s hopes to get back to Victoria in the upcoming trade period.
If the club lose Houston, they’ll be thin on their defensive stocks.
Houston has also declared that he’ll be happy to stay at the Power for the 2025 season, if an appropriate deal for all parties cannot be completed.
The AFL trade period begins on Monday, October 7.
