Australian running prodigy Cameron Myers not selected; Oliver Hoare, Stewart McSweyn, Adam Spencer picked

Olympic finalists Oliver Hoare and Stewart McSweyn and up-and-comer Adam Spencer feature on a three-man Australian team set to contest the 1500m track event at the Paris Olympics.

It means the hopes of teen prodigy Cameron Myers making his Olympic debut at the Paris Games are over.

Spencer, Hoare, McSweyn and Myers had all hit the 1500m entry standard but only three spots were available.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) is not expected to confirm the rest of the track and field team until next week, but informed sources speaking anonymously confirmed the team with Wide World of Sports.

McSweyn has also earned selection in the 5000m, according to informed sources speaking anonymously, and is set to feature at his second Olympic Games.

MORE TO COME.
