George Jennings, Dean Ieremia re-sign with Melbourne Storm as Cameron Munster speculation lingers

The Melbourne Storm have announced that George Jennings and Dean Ieremia have re-signed for 2023, the first two of five scheduled player announcements on Wednesday afternoon, while the future of superstar Cameron Munster remains in the balance.

Despite widespread rumours that Munster was heading back to his home state to link up with the Dolphins, fans took a cryptic tweet from the Storm’s social media account on Tuesday to mean that their star man was staying put.

Instead, the Storm poured cold water on that idea on Wednesday afternoon, with a follow up tweet saying “Munster not included”, while telling fans that from 3pm until 7pm, five signings would be revealed on the hour, every hour, on different social media platforms.

The first, posted on Facebook, was revealed as Jennings before Ieremia followed on Twitter an hour later.

The last three will be confirmed on Tiktok, YouTube, and Instagram at 5, 6, and 7pm respectively.

But the only thing that’s clear is that it won’t be the player their fans want retained more than any other.

Munster quickly became a key cog in the Storm machine after his debut back in 2014, twice being named the Dally M five-eighth of the year, winning two premierships and being named the player of the series in the 2020 State of Origin.

Wayne Bennett’s fledgling club are still searching for a true superstar to build their team around – and are reportedly willing to make Munster the highest-paid player in the league.
