Cameron Munster has given an update on his “frustrating” groin injury – and the Storm superstar also reeled off a cheeky joke in the process.
The five-eighth missed Melbourne’s narrow round one victory over the Panthers on Friday night, with the hosts holding on for an 8-0 triumph at AAMI Park.
Munster reportedly slipped in the shower during a recent trip to Fiji with the team for a pre-season trial, re-aggravating the injury and placing him on the shelf.

And while the seriousness of the issue remains unknown at this stage, Munster didn’t miss an opportunity to crack a classic joke, leaving Nine’s Billy Slater and Danika Mason in stitches during the post-game coverage.
“Maybe it’s just old hips, I use them a fair bit,” he said.
“It’s pretty frustrating – I’ve had a really good pre-season and been training really well. About two or three weeks ago, I did my groin and then two or three weeks ago, I came back to training in Fiji and slipped in the shower, which is a true story.
“The physios haven’t really given me a timeframe and today I was pretty sore.
“I’m pretty restricted, I can only use a band at the moment and can’t really get out of a jog. I can’t really put my finger on it, we did scans and everything.”

Munster’s absence didn’t stop Melbourne from continuing their historic 23-year unbeaten run in the first round, toppling the reigning champions in a nail-biting battle.

Reimis Smith scored the only try of the match as the Storm came up with 13 errors and struggled to keep possession, but their defensive resilience was enough to stop the Panthers as they were kept scoreless in a shock opening round result.
“He needs a new pacemaker Bellyache [Craig Bellamy] – the amount of times he had his heart in his mouth,” Munster said.
“The boys dug deep, but they made it hard on themselves.
“I was very proud of the boys … I think they only completed at 68 per cent. We’ve been working really hard on our defence.”
Munster is no guarantee to be fit in time for next weekend’s clash with the Warriors, who lost the earlier Friday fixture against the Sharks.
