Pakistan could well be in a position to win this match already if not for some poor fielding.
Abdullah Shafique has grassed both David Warner and Mitchell Marsh early in their innings.
Former Aussie captain Mark Taylor may have the answer to why they struggle in the field.
“There’s no doubt they’re more… individually focused on things like runs and wickets,” Taylor told Wide World of Sports.
“You look at say India and Pakistan, you go back 20 years ago, they were both a bit the same – they didn’t take enough opportunities. But India have just, in the last 15 or 20 years, have just put that to bed.
“When you don’t hang on to your catches, it gonna cost you, it can cost you matches.
“Shafique has dropped three catches in this match and everyone drops catches, but you can see that they’ve cost them I’d say hundreds of runs.
“And in Australia mate slips catching is gold.”
