The rugby league community is mourning after the passing of broadcasting and media identity, Barry Ross, on Tuesday morning.
Ross formed part of an iconic commentary duo with Rex Mossop, serving as his trusted sideline eye in the 1970s and 80s.
Both men commentated on several high profile matches including the first ever State of Origin in 1980.

Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) chairman Peter V’landyspaid tribute to the legendary rugby league figure and revealed he was still able to make a correct grand final prediction.
“Barry was one of the great figures of rugby league broadcasting through his partnership with Rex Mossop,” he said.
“He contributed to the Men of League and now Family of League foundations. In particular, he was a tower of strength to former players, especially ones that became sick or needed help.
“I know Barry’s family was thankful that he was able to watch the broadcast of the grand final on Sunday. He was synonymous with some great rugby league grand finals, and he was able to see one of the best of all time. He also tipped the Panthers I’m told.
“The Australian Rugby League Commission extends its deepest condolences to wife Susan, two sons David and Nathan, and grandchildren Charlie and Ivy.”
