Just one week later, after an epic draw between St Kilda and Collingwood, the Magpies reigned supreme to take home the 2010 replay.
It was Scott Pendlebury who took home the Norm Smith Medal, after his 29 touches, 11 tackles and six clearances helped the Pies to a 56-point thumping of the Saints.
But it wasn’t an easy week for the now-veteran, who dealt with a severe stomach bug in the lead-up to the replay.
Pendlebury, who was 22 at the time, lost a massive six kilograms before the game, but was able to perform when it mattered most.
“I wanted to make amends for how I performed last week and play my role in a premiership side. I can say I’ve done that,” Pendlebury said.
