Ashes 2023 second Test day 3 video highlights, every wicket from Australia v England; Stuart Broad explodes after Brendon McCullum DRS signal

Australia is well poised to take a two-nil lead in the Ashes after another commanding day at the office on day three of the second Test at Lord’s.

The match was in the balance heading into the day, but the tourists wrapped up the final six wickets of England’s first innings while conceding just 46 runs to take a 91-run lead into its second dig.

In response, Usman Khawaja notched another unbeaten half century to put his side in the driver’s seat heading into day four, with Australia ending the day with a 221-run lead and eight wickets in hand.

Broad fumes after England’s DRS blunder

Stuart Broad was left seeing red after literally seeing three reds show up on an lbw shout that went unanswered.

The veteran seamer thought he’d dismissed Marnus Labuschagne on three different occasions, but did not get the support of the umpire or his skipper Ben Stokes each time.

Broad’s final lbw shout was proven to be correct, with England coach Brendon McCullum notifying his charges that they should’ve used one of their three review attempts, and the paceman was left fuming.

Pope aggravates shoulder injury

A bad day at the office for England was made worse when No.3 Ollie Pope was forced off the field after hurting his shoulder in a fielding mishap.

Pope had spent a significant chunk of Australia’s first innings in the dressing room after hurting his right shoulder while diving to stop a ball.

The right-hander was still visibly impacted by the injury and avoided throwing the ball with his preferred arm on day three, but still managed to hurt himself when he awkwardly fell while trying to stop a ball and tried to break his fall by planting his right hand on the ground.

Pope immediately winced and clutched at his right shoulder and soon trudged off the ground for some more treatment.

Broad cops brutal head shot

Stuart Broad copped the worst of Australia’s bouncer barrage on day three after a searing short delivery from Cam Green collected him in the jaw.

Green banged one in from around the wicket and Broad dropped his hands and turned his head as the ball thudded into his helmet.

The veteran was ruled fit to continue after undergoing a quick concussion test, but was visibly impacted by the blow to his jaw as he continued to rub it while bowling later on in the day.
