The Newcastle Knights don’t play tonight, with their round 18 clash against the Manly Sea Eagles coming tomorrow at 5.30pm (AEST), but the battling side has another big blow to overcome after young gun Bradman Best was confirmed for another spell on the sidelines.
One of the NRL’s most talented youngsters, Best’s 2022 season has barely got going due to several injuries, including a thumb problem that he carried through pre-season.
And the boom centre is out again with a thumb injury, only it’s the thumb on the other hand putting him back in the surgeon’s room this time.
“Bradman injured his thumb in the last round (last Friday against the Rabbitohs),” Catterick said.
“It’s the other thumb, not the one he had well documented in the pre-season. He pulled the ligament, a little bit of bone off, so he’s having surgery today.
“He’ll have that reattached and hopefully be back on the field in about three or four weeks.”
