Anything you can do, we can do… the same.

The Queensland Reds matched arch-rivals the NSW Waratahs by posting a comprehensive 43-0 win in the opening round of Super W.

The Reds outclassed the ill-disciplined Melbourne Rebels on Saturday after the Waratahs had thrashed the Western Force by the same scoreline on Friday.

“A really impressive performance from the Reds, it showed how well rounded their game is,” dual international Allana Ferguson said on Nine and Stan Sport.

“Ivania Wong made a try-saving tackle just before the 80 minute mark – that was huge.”

Former Wallaby Morgan Turinui, who commentated on the match, agreed “the 0 was just as impressive as the 43.”

The Rebels copped five yellow cards at AAMI Park, including one to captain Ashley Marsters.

“It really let us down – too many yellow cards,” Marsters said.

“There’s no question that our team is physical but we needed to play with ball in hand and that’s what let us down.”

At Allianz Stadium, 16-year-old fullback Caitlyn Halse lived up to the hype with an eye-catching Waratahs debut in the 43-0 rout of the Force.

“Outstanding – nine debutants today and they all got on the paddock,” Waratahs captain Piper Duck said.

“The girls were working hard all pre-season and to finally put it on the paddock, we’re really happy. We’re really strong. Of course, there’s some work-ons but we’re really happy with that strong performance.”

In Nadi, the Fijiana Drua made Super W history with a tense 12-7 win over the ACT Brumbies.

It was the first Super W game to be played in Fiji after the Drua won the competition in their first season, playing out of Australia in 2022.

Drua captain Bitila Tawake said the game “created history for women in rugby.”

“There was a lot of pressure. In the first 30 minutes the Brumbies gave us a tough time but we got two tries and the girls kept it together.”
