0 Jessica Hull has added to her long list of Australian records in an exceptional run in the USA, in a tremendous sign ahead of the World Athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games.
The rising star from New South Wales clocked 4:19.89 in a mile race in the Oregon city of Portland to steal the women’s outdoor record from Linden Hall.
The race served as a brilliant tune-up in Hull’s preparation for the 5000m at the World Athletics Championships, and the 5000m and 1500m at the Commonwealth Games.

The 25-year-old now owns the national outdoor records over 1500m, the mile, 3000m and 5000m, and 1500m, mile and 3000m indoor records.
Hull and the 31-year-old Hall are driving incredible standards among Australia’s female middle-distance runners.
The mark Hull lowered was Hall’s 4:21.38, posted in the Belgium city of Brussels in 2021.
Hall and Hull were shining lights for Australia at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, with both advancing to the 1500m final and finishing sixth and 11th respectively.
The meet at which Hull broke the national outdoor mile record was hosted by Union Athletics Club, which used to be known as the Nike Oregon Project.
She was paced by UAC teammates Sinclaire Johnson, Koko Klosterhalfen and Eleanor Fulton.
