Jordan Kirkpatrick’s goal gave sixth-tier Darvel a famous 1-0 win over Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup and raised the pressure on underfire Dons boss Jim Goodwin.
Aberdeen, who have reached the semi-finals twice in the last five seasons, were humbled by Kirkpatrick’s first-half strike for Darvel, who play in the West of Scotland Premier League and have never reached the fifth round of the tournament before.
Home goalkeeper Chris Truesdale was at his best to keep out efforts from Ryan Duncan, Duk and Bojan Miovski either side of half-time as his heroics ensured Michael Kennedy’s side progress to host Falkirk in the last 16.
