0 Cameron Smith has weathered the storm to win the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland, sending his home crowd to cloud nine.
The Australian cult hero survived two stoppages for inclement weather and charging countryman Jason Scrivener to clinch the Kirkwood Cup.
It’s Smith’s third straight Australian PGA Championship win and his latest success in a growing list of achievements.

It marked the fifth win of the year for Smith, whose biggest triumph to date remains his shock Open Championship triumph at St Andrews.
There was a small scare for Smith on the final day in Brisbane, who found himself in a three-way tie for the lead at 11 under with Scrivener and Ryo Hisatsune of Japan.
Hisatsune was the star of the first leg, who birdied three of the first four holes.

In the end, the man with the mullet was able to stretch his legs out to 14-under and with it took a three-shot win over.
“It’s awesome mate,” Smith told Wide World of Sports’ Todd Woodbridge.
”I really didn’t think I had it in me this week, to be honest.
“The start of the week was really scratchy and the game just got better and better as the week went on – other than the front nine today.”
Smith admitted the uncertainty with the seasonably tropical Queensland weather did play havoc with his rhythm.
“I guess it’s just a little bit frustrating,” he said.
“You’re kind of in the mojo a little bit and for it to be stopped, not once but twice, was a little bit frustrating.
“I just held onto it and played really solid those last eight holes.”
Smith came into the final day with a three-shot lead but was caught in the opening stanza of the back nine.
Lightning in the area prompted officials to cease play for more than two hours all told.
Outside of Scrivener, Min Woo Lee looked to be Smith’s biggest threat. He started the day strong and came within two shots of Smith before he imploded.
After a clutch putt went around the back of the lip and sent course-side fans into a frenzy, he promptly fired his ball into the lip of a bunker.
In the end, Lee wound up nine under and five shots off of Smith – tied with John Parry.
