Cricket Ireland has confirmed that all-rounder George Dockrell played in yesterday’s Super 12 clash against Sri Lanka despite returning a positive COVID-19 test.
According to a Cricket Ireland statement, Dockrell had been identified as “potentially positive”, and is currently being “managed in line with current local, national and ICC guidelines”.
Dockrell is understood to have very mild symptoms at this stage.
The 30-year-old will is still allowed to play and train, but will travel separately to the rest of Ireland’s squad on match and training days to avoid spreading the virus.
