Adam Doueihi and Robbie Farah sent off in NZ v Lebanon

Wests Tigers five-eighth Adam Doueihi is in hot water after he was sent off for dissent in Lebanon’s 34-12 defeat to New Zealand, having used “foul and abusive language” towards the referee.

With 20 minutes to go, Lebanon opted for a short kick-off after falling behind by 18 points – but things quickly unravelled further.

A penalty was called against the Cedars after New Zealand recovered the kick-off, and a spray from the Tigers pivot towards referee Grant Atkins resulted in the player being sent from the field – with trainer Robbie Farah seemingly marched as well.

It’s not uncommon to see players sin binned for 10 minutes for verbal abuse towards an official, but to be sent off is another story entirely.

You may recall Doueihi’s club teammate, James Tamou, was sent off late in the 2022 NRL season for calling referee Ben Cummins “f—ing incompetent”

To rub salt in the wounds, the 12-man Lebanon side conceded a third try in as many sets just two tackles after Doueihi left the field.

Jordan Rapana touched down in the corner just a couple of minutes after Joey Manu scored a brilliant solo try under the sticks, having also put one on a plate for Dylan Brown a minute prior.

The Roosters centre once again thrived in a central position for the national team, being given the fullback spot and, as he did in the mid-year Test, dominating proceedings throughout.

It was another Rooster shining in the other Group C contest, as Ireland routed Jamaica, 48-2, on the back of some Luke Keary brilliance.

With the top two in each group making it through to the quarter-finals, next Monday’s clash between Lebanon and Ireland looms as a de facto finals game.
