Arlo Parks has cancelled eight of her upcoming US tour shows to return home to London and take a mental health break.

The singer, 22, took to Instagram on Friday to announce the news, admitting she has found herself in ‘a very dark place’.

Arlo described herself as ‘broken’ but reassured fans that she would make up for the cancellation- as she will return to continue the tour in late September.

Arlo has pulled the plug on planned shows in Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Denver and Salt Lake City.

While the tour will recommence in Portland on September 26, after the singer spends some downtime in her home city. 

Opening up about her detiorating mental health in the lengthy Instagram post, Arlo penned: ‘I’ve been on the road on and off for the last 18 months, filling every spare second in between and working myself to the bone. It was exciting and I was eager to grind and show everyone what I was capable of, how grateful I was to be where I am today. 

‘The people around me started to get worried but I was anxious to deliver and afraid to disappoint my fans and myself. I pushed myself unhealthily, further and harder than I should’ve.

Continuing that she has hit her limits emotionally and is ‘exhausted’, Arlo admitting: ‘I find myself now in a very dark place, exhausted and dangerously low – it’s painful to admit that my mental health has deteriorated to a debilitating place, that I’m not okay, that I’m a human being with limits.

‘With that in mind I’m having to cancel the shows from Boston to Salt Lake City and recommence the tour in Portland.

Concluding, the star thanked her loyal fans and vowed to make things up to them, explaining they can receive full ticket refunds.

‘I don’t take decisions like this lightly but I am broken and I really need to step out, go home and take care of myself. I will do everything I can to make this up to you – for now you can get refunds at your point of purchase. While Clara Amfo supported with a comment reading ‘Take all your time, as band Fontaines left a love heart emoji.

Arlo’s debut studio album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, was released in 2021 – bagging the singer a coveted Mercury Prize.

The songstress also took home a BRIT award last year for Best New Artist, before kicking off her tour at the beginning of Setpember.

Her tour started in Quebec, Canada and is set to come to a close on October 2 in Atlanta.
