Whitney Port revealed that a nutritionist made her feel validated as they said they believe she does not have an eating disorder but ‘disordered eating’ due to ‘neurovegetative depression‘ after sparking concern due to her weight.
The 38-year-old former star of The Hills – who previously vowed to see a specialist – opened up about her first appointment with a ‘nutritionist/psychiatrist’ on the latest episode of her podcast With Whit.
As she has previously said that she doesn’t believe she has an eating disorder, she found it ‘validating’ that the expert agreed with her.
She explained: ‘I don’t think I have an eating disorder and she didn’t think I had an eating disorder, and that felt really validating.
‘She was like “there may be some disordered eating due to some emotional stuff but I do not think that you have an eating disorder” so that felt really validating.’

The television personality admitted that even if she felt like she didn’t believe she had an eating disorder it was hard to shake that doubt.
Whitney continued: ‘I felt like I could trust myself like I could trust my gut like I wasn’t crazy because I was really scared that I was in denial about how I viewed myself or what was really going on because I pride myself on being a very socially aware person.
‘So it was hard for me because I was like “s*** am I not getting it?” but I feel like I am, I really feel like I am and I feel like I am taking the steps to take care of myself and the hard part for me is going to be consistency.’
Whitney said that the ‘nutritionist/psychiatrist’ suspects that she actually has what is referred to as ‘neurovegetative depression.’
However the star said: ‘I don’t want to put a label on myself, and she didn’t want to put a label on me right away, but she said what it sounded like … is just, like, lethargy, and that all really made sense to me.
‘I think it’s just all these underlying things that have slowly chipped away at some self-confidence adding to a little bit of what [runs in my family]. I think that’s affecting my weight and my food intake.’
Whitney has been open about the process as last week she once again weighed in on concerns about her recent weight loss in more depth than ever before in a previous episode of her podcast With Whit.
She was joined by her husband Tim Rosenman, who explained his feelings about her significantly slimmed-down figure.

He explained that her original statement that he had expressed concern about her weight and had encouraged her to eat more had been ‘blown out of proportion.’
Tim explained that when he said he was ‘concerned’ about her weight, he really meant that he thought she was ‘too thin’ in an aesthetic sense, as he prefers her with a more full-figured look.
Whitney and her husband’s attempts to tone down the concerns from fans about her weight comes after she announced plans to see a nutritionist about her weight loss.
Whitney’s husband said he preferred her with ‘another 10 to 15 pounds,’ even though he admitted that saying so could open him up to criticism from fans who thought he shouldn’t express any opinion about how his wife’s body should look.
‘I am not worried about your health,’ he continued, adding that he knew the results of blood tests, including her triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and therefore he was certain that she was in fine health.
‘I was concerned if you had some kind of strained relationship with food, with appearance from being in the public eye,’ he said.
However, Whitney admitted that she also wasn’t a fan of how she currently looks.
However, she blamed her ‘ripped-up esophagus’ for her drastic weight loss and said that she just ‘never put [the weight] back on’ after being sick.

She added that she planned to see a doctor to work on her ‘pickiness’ and to make sure that she was getting all the nutrients she needed.
Tim then added that it was not acceptable for total strangers to make rude comments on her social media posts, such as telling her to ‘eat a hamburger.’
‘You are probably healthier than 99 percent of the population,’ he said confidently.
He also noted that there was a double standard, and that it would be considered unacceptable to criticize an overweight person for their weight, but commenters didn’t feel the same hesitancy about remarking about someone’s weight when they appeared to be too thin.
However, when he mentioned the word ‘concerned’ again, he clarified that he did think it’s acceptable for someone to approach a person if they are concerned about their health.
Nevertheless, most of the followers who commented on Whitney’s health knew nothing about her life or eating habits.
‘I didn’t think it was going to taken so out of context,’ Whitney added.
She said she thought that she was probably somewhat ‘underweight,’ but she was adamant that she did not have an eating disorder, and she hoped her upcoming visit with a nutritionist would help her get back to a weight that both she and her husband found aesthetically pleasing, since they seemed to be on the same page about an ideal weight.

Whitney previously explained in an Insta Stories post that she thought her current weight was due to excessive pickiness when it came to food, though she thought her appetite was plenty strong.
‘I always feel hungry but I just don’t know what to eat. It’s not how I want to look or feel though,’ she wrote. ‘My excuses are that I’m too lazy to make feeding myself a priority or I’m too picky when it comes to taste and quality.
‘Both are unacceptable and I don’t want to set an unhealthy example so I promised Timmy and I’ll promise you that my health will be a priority,’ she added.
Later on Tuesday, Whitney shared a sweet Instagram post that showed her and Tim in New York City.
