Love Island stars’ families hit out at abuse directed at their ‘sons, daughters and loved ones’

The Love Island stars’ families have taken to Instagram to hit out at online hate directed at their loved ones whilst they appear on the ITV2 reality show.

Every series, the families and friends of the Islanders take control of their social media pages while the Islanders are without their phones in the Mallorca villa.

And following an onslaught of online abuse, friends and family of numerous stars have come together, despite never meeting, to declare ‘hate has no place here’.

‘Your hate has no place on our pages or in society in general. This post is being shared across contestants social media pages at the same time and love island fan related pages as a sign of unity and denouncement of hate’.

The statement was joined by a caption which read: ‘Be kind’.

Their comments come after Jacques’ O’Neill’s family hit out at hate directed towards the star as they took to Instagram before his departure from the show to reveal he has ADHD.

They wrote: ‘All the hate thrown towards Jacques doesn’t go to him directly….It comes to his loved ones who have always supported him and not just whilst he is on Love Island.

‘Love Island, although real. Is still a show where the producers do have control and we see 45minutes out of the 1440 in 24hours. Please be kind♥️ .’

Making the announcement about Jacques’s ADHD, his family added: ‘Jacques was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 9 years old.

‘By no means is this a get out clause for his actions but it is to show that he can fundamentally struggle with his emotions at times.

‘He is an amazing person who I’m proud to call my friend/little brother.’

Jacques has since departed the ITV2 dating show following the arrival of Adam Collard, 26, saying: ‘Love Island was the worst decision of my life.’

The families of this year’s Islanders have previously hit out at online hate, with Ekin-Su’s loved ones hitting back when Davide’s team criticised her behaviour.

Earlier in the series, Jay Younger and Remi Lambert turned heads as they entered the villa with Davide taking a knock to his ego as he watched current partner Ekin-Su crack on with both bombshells.

But Davide’s family were unimpressed after watching her enjoy two dates with the new boys as they took to his Instagram grid to fume over the turn of events.

His team argued that Davide ‘deserves someone genuine’ as they called for him to couple up with Paige Thorne, who is currently paired up with Jacques O’Neill.

They also slammed Ekin-Su for getting upset with Davide not making her coffee in the morning in a very opinionated statement.

Alongside a snap of a smiling Davide, they fumed: ‘How about you make your own coffee.

‘Over the past few days we all had to tolerate a desperate attempt to steal the show.

‘Like Davide said ‘something is not quite right’ and we really hope he figures out what’s really going on and takes action.

‘He’s got a big heart and deserves someone genuine, someone on the same Pa(i)ge.

”I’d rather be in bed with you’… If you want to be treated like a lady, act like one first.

‘On behalf of Davide, Thank you all for your support, it means so much to him. Yours truthfully, Davide’s team.’

But Ekin-Su’s team were very quick to hit back at the lengthy statement, as they called for the Islander’s families to remain ‘neutral’ throughout the series.

Posting on Ekin-Su’s Instagram Stories after Wednesday’s show, they shared Davide’s statement and said ‘little digs’ and ‘hate’ towards Islanders ‘should not be tolerated’.

The impassioned post read: ‘I just wanted to make sure we understand the roles in handling Insta accounts.

‘We are supposed to be neutral and little digs to other cast members should not be tolerated.

‘Most behaves on the show have been designed for audiences entertainment, no hate just lessons to be learnt.’ (sic)
