Lisa Curry has revealed her late daughter Jaimi Kenny wanted to write a book about her life in order to help other troubled young people.
But she was unable to fulfil this wish because she tragically died in September 2020 aged 33 after an 18-year battle with alcohol addiction and anorexia.
The Olympic swimmer told The Australian Women’s Weekly on Thursday: ‘Jaimi wanted to write a book to help others, but it was too late. We left it too late.’

She added: ‘But I hope that, by being honest and knowing that Jaimi wanted to help others, we can help in some way, in some small way.’
The sporting champion has just released a deeply personal memoir that touches on Jaimi’s illness and death, called Lisa: A Memoir – 60 Years of Life, Love and Loss.
She also told AWW that caring for Jaimi over the years had been ‘exhausting’, but she had to learn she couldn’t spend her whole life worrying about one child.

‘You can’t live your life for one child. You have three children and they are all the world to you, and that’s why I have to be really conscious of my self-care, so that I can be there for them and the grandchildren,’ she said.
Lisa married fellow athlete Grant Kenny in 1984 and they separated in 2009.
During their marriage, they welcomed three children together: son Jett, 28, and daughters Morgan, 31, and Jaimi.

Almost a decade after her divorce from the Ironman great, Lisa wed Elvis impersonator Mark Tabone in 2018.
Jaimi died at Sunshine Coast University Hospital on September 14, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was 33.
Announcing the sad news on social media, Lisa wrote: ‘Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side.’
Lisa suffered heartbreak yet again in April this year after losing her mother Pat at the age of 86.
