Donald Sutherland to publish memoir about fame and his 60-year career in Hollywood

Famously private about his personal life, acclaimed actor Donald Sutherland is finally ready to let the public in on his story.

He’ll share behind-the-scenes moments from 60 years in the spotlight in his memoir Made Up, But Still True.

Born in Saint John, Sutherland rose to stardom from early roles in Dirty Dozen and M.A.S.H. and has since received numerous accolades including an honorary Oscar, two Golden Globe Awards, a companionship of the Order of Canada and even a Canada Post stamp bearing his image.

Made Up, But Still True details Sutherland’s adventures, triumphs and trials on and off set, his strong bond with his parents, the health scares that almost killed him and his first and enduring loves. With signature humour, sensitivity and surprising honesty, Sutherland opens up on the life of a Hollywood icon and all that comes with it. 

Made Up, But Still True will be published by Viking Canada and will hit shelves on Nov. 12, 2024.
