Robert De Niro‘s daughter Drena De Niro posted a touching tribute to Pee-wee Herman actor Paul Reubens who died over the weekend after a battle with cancer.
Drena on Instagram shared a series of photos and videos commemorating the late actor, including ones with her son Leandro, who recently died of an overdose.
One of the photos shows Reubens holding Leandro as a baby and in a separate video, the Pee-wee actor sent birthday wishes to the teen.
‘Now you and Leandro can ride bicycles, build elaborate pet feeding systems & talk to the animals everyday together,’ the grieving mother wrote in a post.
Reubens, who was 70-years-old, died on Sunday night after a six-year-battle with cancer. Leandro died on July 2 after allegedly taking ‘fentanyl-laced pills.’
Drena De Niro posted a tribute to late Pee-wee Herman actor Paul Reubens on Monday, sharing a photo of Reubens and her recently deceased son Leandro De Niro Rodriguez
‘Now you and Leandro can ride bicycles, build elaborate pet feeding systems & talk to the animals everyday together,’ Drena De Niro wrote in a tribute to Paul Reubens
‘Take care of eachother,’ Drena wrote in her tribute to the late actor. ‘Heaven is lucky to have you 2 angels. Love you Buddy.’
The actress also thanked Reubens for their love and friendship over the years.
‘Darling wonderful kind genius Paul,’ she wrote to her The Groovinians co-star.
‘I loved you since the moment I first laid on eyes on you in Cheech & Chong’s Up in Smoke because even though I was just a kid,’ Drena shared.
The daughter of the two-time Oscar winner added that she felt an immediate connection to Reubens because of who they were.
‘Weird knows weird and you were brilliantly and beautifully weird,’ Drena wrote.
The actress also shared that she believed the Pee-wee actor had been vilified by ‘the media’ prior to knowing him personally.
‘It was with you that the Media showed what a truly vicious beast it really is,’ Drena shared, referencing Reubens’ arrest for masturbation in an adult cinema in the 90s.
‘I didn’t know you then but I had wished I could tell you that I loved you and would stand by PeeWee forever,’ she continued.
Reubens pleaded no contest to the charge and was ordered to complete 75 hours of community service in the matter.
In addition to his 1991 arrest in Sarasota, Florida, Reubens’ home was raided in 2002 and he was charged with possession of child pornography.
The charge was later reduced to a count of possession of obscenity.

Drena’s heartbreaking tribute comes after weeks of agony as she continues to mourn the death of her only child, Leo, who was just 18 at the time of his death.
Leo died on July 2 of a fentanyl overdose, Drena has said on social media.
‘Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him,’ she wrote on Instagram in July.
‘For all these people still f–king around selling and buying this s–t, my son is gone forever,’ the heartbroken mother added at the time.
Leo’s body was discovered in a chair next to a white powder in a one bedroom apartment at the Cipriani Club Residences on Wall Street, New York.
In June, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig told reporters that fentanyl is now ‘laced in probably 98% of the drugs’ in the Big Apple.
‘Fentanyl is in everything now, everything,’ Essig said. ‘Now people have low tolerance, that’s why they’re overdosing so much.’

Reubens’ death came just weeks after Leo’s passing and has been described as ‘devastating’ and a terrific loss for the entertainment industry.
In a note written by Reubens, posted to social media by his family, the actor asked for forgiveness for not informing the world about his diagnosis.
‘Please accept my apology for not going public with what I’ve been facing the last six years,’ the Pee-wee Herman portrayer wrote.
‘I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans, and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you.’
