Manchester United have parted company with manager Erik ten Hag after a poor start to the season left the club 14th in the English Premier League.

The Dutchman has won two domestic trophies since taking over at Old Trafford two and a half years ago, including last season’s FA Cup.

But the team’s league form has been mixed, with four defeats in nine games this season, including to West Ham at the weekend.

The club announced Ten Hag’s departure in a statement on X.

Former player Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge as interim head coach.
