Life Uncut bounces back after co-host Brittany Hockley is targeted by vile trolls

It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Brittany Hockley after she was trolled online by people leaving a flood of one-star reviews on her podcast calling her ‘egocentric’.

However, iHeartPodcast Network’s Life Uncut seems to have made a comeback according to Media Week on Thursday.

After an impressive performance last month, Brittany, 33, and her co-host Laura Byrne clawed their way five spots up the rating chart to number five.

Life Uncut is arguably Australia’s biggest female-fronted podcast.

But despite the show’s popularity, disgruntled listeners and trolls recently turned on host Brittany with a wave of negative, one-star reviews.

‘I’m an OG listener but can’t listen to this podcast anymore due to Britt,’ one raged. ‘It’s seems like it’s becoming a common thing by reading other reviews left by listeners.’

‘So very disappointed,’ wrote another. ‘I was already feeling unhappy where the podcast was headed. Britt has become so unbelievably egocentric, where she takes over every episode, acting like her opinion and life experiences are above everyone else’s.’

Despite the backlash from trolls, the majority of Life Uncut’s listeners have left positive reviews with praise for the podcast and the hosts.

‘You know a podcast is good when you’re like 3 years late to the party and in the space of a couple of months have almost caught right up by binge listening,’ gushed one.

‘Totally disagree with the comments about Britt. Of course she relates topics back to her own experiences, it’s to give listeners an understanding of the content in a real life scenario,’ lectured another fan.

‘It’s also a way of demonstrating emotional intelligence – when someone is sharing their experiences they feel empathy and understanding from their audience when they can relate to them.’

Brittany and co-host Laura Byrne have become two of Australia’s biggest media personalities since their time on The Bachelor.

They’ve already won the Listeners’ Choice Awards for two years in a row at The Australian Podcast Awards.

Life Uncut has also been picked up KIIS FM and turned into a national radio show, and in October, Brittany and Laura will release their first book.

The self-help tome, titled We Love Love: An Unfiltered A to Z of Modern Romance, will cover various dating topics, such as ghosting and long-distance relationships.
