As Saskatchewan gears up to vote in the provincial election on Oct. 28, residents can tune in to a live debate being streamed and televised from 6:05 to 7 p.m CST Wednesday.

The debate will take place in the rotunda in the Saskatchewan legislature in Regina.

NDP Leader Carla Beck and Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe will face off on a variety of issues vital to Saskatchewanians. Topics likely to be discussed include the health care crisis, building a strong economy, the pronoun policy, the carbon tax and affordability.

Moe has said he’s running on the record of the Saskatchewan Party, which has been in government since 2007, of growing the province’s economy and population, along with plans to make life more affordable.

The Sask. Party’s platform includes $1.2-billion in promises over four years.

NDP Leader Carla Beck has said Moe’s economic and fiscal performance as premier has been dismal, with the province increasing its debt and posting large deficits.

Her fiscal plan proposes an additional $3.5 billion in spending over four years, mostly on education and health care. Beck has said she would pay for her promises by growing the economy and cutting what she calls Saskatchewan Party waste.

Beck’s plan projects small deficits in the first three years, followed by a small surplus in the fourth year.

Wednesday’s debate, moderated by Merelda Fiddler-Potter, assistant professor of Indigenous Communication at First Nations University of Canada, will be aired on:

  • CBC TV and Radio.
  • Radio-Canada.
  • CTV and Global TV stations throughout the province.
  • Rawlco radio stations will broadcast on their various platforms.
  • Postmedia News.
  • CPAC.
