Olivia Rodrigo bounces back after falling through hole on stage

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo made an unfortunate trip down under during the Australian leg of her world tour, falling through a hole in the stage on Monday.

The Drivers License singer was running and facing the crowd at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena when she abruptly fell into an opening. She bounced back almost immediately, pulling herself back up and addressing the audience.

“Oh my God, that was fun … I’m OK!”  Rodrigo said. “Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s alright.”

The Grammy Award-winning singer then went right back to her energetic banter.

“Where was I?” she said. “How are we doing tonight, Melbourne?”

Rodrigo later posted a video with a loop of the incident to her own TikTok with the caption “#subtleforeshadowing,” and commented, “I am ok hahaha” with a heart emoji. The video had 1.6 million likes by Wednesday afternoon.

The show was her fourth in Melbourne as part of the Guts World Tour, which kicked off in February in North America and will break for the winter after this month’s Australia run.

The 21-year-old made her name starring on Disney shows Bizaardvark and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, before releasing her debut album Sour in 2021. It won three Grammy Awards.

Her followup Guts, featuring the Billboard-topping single Vampire, was released in 2023.
