Canada Soccer suspends women’s head coach Priestman for remainder of Paris Olympics

Canadian women’s soccer head coach Bev Priestman has been suspended for the remainder of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by Canada Soccer, the organization announced in a statement on Thursday.

Assistant coach Andy Spence will serve in a caretaker role for the remainder of the Games.

Canada Soccer CEO & general secretary Kevin Blue issued a statement saying the program’s drone use against opponents predates the 2024 Summer Games.

“Over the past 24 hours, additional information has come to our attention regarding previous  drone use against opponents, predating the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” Blue said.,

“In light of these new revelations, Canada Soccer has made the decision to suspend Women’s National Team Head Coach, Bev Priestman for the remainder of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and until the completion of our recently announced independent external review.”
