Classic V8 Supercars will have a new place to race in 2023 with the revival of the V8 Touring Cars National Series.
The category is expected to feature as part of the SpeedSeries program, alongside categories like the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series and Turtle Wax Trans Am.
The series, run by the Australian Racing Group, will be open to pre-Car of the Future specification cars up to and including the Ford FG Falcon and Holden VE II Commodore.

The announcement coincides with confirmation of the Super2 Series and Super3 Series eligibility rules for 2023.
With Supercars set to introduce the Gen3-spec Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro, the Gen2-spec ZB Commodore and Mustang will be grandfathered into the Super2 Series.

The Super3 Series, meanwhile, will take stock of the Car of the Future-spec Nissan Altima, the VF Commodore and FG X Falcon alongside Project Blueprint-spec cars.
It means there will be an eligibility crossover between the V8 Touring Cars National Series and Super3 Series, with the Project Blueprint-spec cars eligible for both categories.
“We have been well into the planning to re-establish the V8 Touring Cars Series as a stand-alone entity for some time,” said Super3 Series and V8 Touring Cars Series category manager Liam Curkpatrick said.
“This announcement offers competitors with pre-Car of the Future Supercars the best of both worlds. They can compete in Super3 competition alongside the Super2 cars, and they can also race among cars of a similar specification in a stand-alone category.
“This is essentially the return of the series that grew and evolved into what became Super3 in 2019.
“V8 Touring Cars will have its own calendar, race formats and broadcast package, offering a great place for both young drivers progressing up the ladder or those who just enjoy racing these sensational cars.”
Details regarding the 2023 calendar, tyre supplier, and race formats will be announced in due course.
In its previous guise, the V8 Touring car Series ran as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships.
