‘Kyle’s beyond excited. Kyle will be back on tomorrow’s radio show to chat all things Otto,’ he added.

Jackie, who is Otto’s godmother, shed tears of joy as she declared: ‘Otto has been born!’

Deppeler also recorded a comedic video of Kyle indulging in a cooler bag full of snacks in the hospital.

‘The baby’s feeding. Then I thought, well if you’re eating, I will too,’ he declared.

While the KIIS FM team weren’t able to broadcast from the birthing suite, they did contribute a personal touch to Tegan’s and Kyle’s big day by creating a baby-themed playlist for them to play while she gave birth.

Among the songs on the list was Guy Sebastian’s 2003 hit single Angels Brought Me Here.

Guy himself called into the show to send his well-wishes, revealing that he’d been made aware of the birth after a stranger stopped him on the street to share the news.

TV presenter Beau Ryan also called into the show, jokingly telling Jackie: ‘I never thought I’d see this day while I was alive.’

Also sending his best wishes was Kyle’s idol, veteran radio host John Laws, who mused: ‘Does the child look like me?’

Elsewhere, baby Otto’s uncle Chris Sandilands called into the show to share his joy.

Chris said he was thrilled by the arrival, revealing that he was unable to attend the birth due to hospital Covid restrictions but was looking forward to meeting his nephew once they return home.

‘This kid is born into luxury. What a lucky little bugger!’ he joked.

Just an hour earlier, at around 7am, Kyle abruptly left his radio show as Tegan went into labour.

Seconds into the show, father-to-be told his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson he had to leave and rush Tegan to the hospital.

‘Guys, I am broadcasting from home for a reason, and that reason seems to have raised its head now,’ he said, before turning to his pregnant partner and asking her, ‘It’s all happening?’

Turning back to the microphone, Kyle continued: ‘Guys, I think I might have to leave the show and go to the hospital.’

‘Calm down, we don’t want the kid coming too soon,’ Kyle joked.

Shedding his usual calm demeanour, Kyle seemed rather flustered as he told his colleagues: ‘Guys I’m so sorry. I feel very unprepared, I don’t… I’ve got to run… I feel like I’m abandoning you, but I’m there for my child.’

Jackie assured him everything was fine, before inviting producer Pedro Vitola to host the show in Kyle’s absence.
